Welcome to the website of the SVR Rolling Stock Trust, a registered charity, set up in 2002 as the owner of last resort for rolling stock based on the SVR.

Happy New Year to you all, and please read our latest news.

To tell you a bit about the RST:

Our vehicles - Our ownership now comprises one loco - 7819 Hinton Manor, and thirteen carriages - TSO 4690, sleeping car 9084, TSO 4509, BSK 35219, TSO 4399, LMS Open First 7511, Corridor Composite 16267, Brake Open Second 9220, LMS Corridor Thirds 2300 and 12992, LMS Composite 24617, and SKs 25346 and 25498. Please see the Our Vehicles page for further information - click here.

Restoration progress - It is a painstakingly slow process to restore heritage vehicles to their original glory, and unprecedented flood damage doesn't help! Please see the News page for further information - click here.

Supporting us - how you can help

Gift Aid - a simple process allowing us to claim back tax on your donation, which means that we get an extra 28p for every pound you donate. Gift Aid replaced the former 'Covenant' arrangements.

As a registered charity, we can increase the value of donations from anyone who pays UK Income Tax by 28%. This is by us recovering the Income Tax which you have already paid, and is at no extra cost to you; all you have to do is to complete and return to us a simple Gift Aid declaration. Please see the Donations page for further information - click here.

Legacy - What interested the father does not always interest the son, and here passing a vehicle to the Trust before death helps – but transfer as part of a Will reduces the Inheritance Tax payable by your heirs, as donations to a charity are excluded from the valuation of the estate.

It's not just millionaires who are affected by Inheritance Tax (IHT) - if the total value of all your financial assets is greater than £300,000 (tax year 2007/2008), the taxman could be entitled to 40p of every £1 over that amount.

But IHT is exempt on property and money that goes to charity - such as the SVR Rolling Stock Trust. Please see the Legacies page for further information - click here.
